Cayuga ducks are one of the few duck breeds believed to have originated in the United States, in the Lake Cayuga region of New York. These ducks are relatively large, weighing between 7-8 pounds, with males being larger than females. They appear black and green in color, almost like an oil slick. Some will even have a purple tint to some feathers. Males are distinguishable from females as they have green heads. They are hardy ducks, and people enjoy them because they lay either gray or even black eggs!
